As a Wrap-Around Care Venue Lead, you’ll oversee the planning and delivery of engaging activities while ensuring the smooth daily operations of the setting. Job Overview
Line Manager: Head of Childcare
Responsible For: Sports & Activities Assistants / Playworkers
Working Relationships:
• Children attending the club and their parents or guardians
• Club management, staff, students, and volunteers
• Childcare and play organisations, schools, registering authorities
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee daily operations and plan termly activity timetables to deliver high-quality, inclusive play opportunities.
• Ensure children are safely collected from school and handed over to parents/guardians.
• Support the preparation and serving of nutritious snacks, maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
• Administer first aid when needed and promote a safe environment through regular risk assessments.
• Set up play and learning spaces, including moving furniture and equipment.
• Consult with children to plan engaging, age-appropriate activities.
• Supervise, support, and develop staff, including volunteers.
• Conduct staff meetings, appraisals, and reviews.
• Manage records, budgets, and purchasing, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), supporting staff, leading on safeguarding matters, and liaising with external agencies.
• Foster strong communication with parents, schools, and team members.
• Lead OFSTED inspections in collaboration with the Head of Childcare.
• Support the ongoing training and development of team members.
• Ensure compliance with the Early Years Foundation Stage and all relevant club policies.
Working Hours & Pay
Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
- Morning: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
- Afternoon: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
20–30 hours per week (flexible, depending on venue)
Pay: £13.50 – £14.00 per hour
Pay is pro rata’d and paid evenly over 12 months
Free childcare during working hours

What We’re Looking For
• Essential:
• Level 3 Childcare Qualification
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in early years and nursery settings
• Experience working with children aged 4–11
• Supervisory or management experience
• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work independently using good judgment and common sense
• Understanding of the diverse needs of children and families
• Commitment to delivering equal opportunities in play settings
• Desirable:
• Experience in a play-based or sports setting
• Experience managing budgets
• IT literacy for record keeping and communication
• Appropriate child protection training
• Current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate
• Food Hygiene Certificate
• Full UK driving licence
