Trainee/ Marine Electronics Engineer
We are a respected electronics company that has been operating for over 60 years servicing the commercial, fishing and leisure marine markets.
We are currently seeking a Trainee/ Electronics engineer to join us at our base in Maldon, Essex.
The role will require travelling to customer’s vessels and sites around the UK and potentially abroad as and when required. Good communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
Installation and commissioning of equipment on customers vessels and premises
Fault finding, maintenance and repair of equipment on customers vessels and on company premises
Providing technical advice and support to customers and the company’s sales and service agents
Promoting and seeking the sale of company products and services during contact with customers
Assist with administrative tasks as and when directed
Attend and assist at exhibitions when required
Be trained in the latest hi-tech equipment justifying their experience and qualifications
Be able to undertake service work unsupervised
Required requirements:
HNC or HND in electronics or equivalent
Clean UK Full driving licence (manual)
Physically agile, able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces such as under and behind consoles.
Aptitude for PC applications
Desired requirements:
UK GMDSS General Operators Certificate/ GMDSS Maintenance Certificate
British Marine Electrical Technician (BMET)
Marine Electronics Installer (MEI)
Advanced Marine Electronics Installer (AMEI)
Knowledge of 12/24V DC and 230V AC Systems
Experience in electronic/ electrical fitting and installation
Experience within the marine electronics industry
Demonstrate and have skills to lead, manage and organise small projects
Other equivalent or relevant experience can be accepted by agreement
