Crynodeb
To act as a key resource in facilitating and supporting the delivery of direct specialist patient care to all members of the multidisciplinary team, eg, nurses, doctors, teachers, school and community nurses. To monitor the treatment and care of all paediatric diabetic patients in conjunction with medical and nursing staff as necessary. In particular, to assess, plan, implement, evaluate care for children with diabetes and support and educate all diabetic patients under the Consultant Paediatrician who are newly diagnosed or who are admitted to hospital with a glucose emergency or needing a surgical procedure; and all those who are having problems with their diabetes management as outpatients. With Consultant or PDSN support, to be responsible for the paediatric diabetic caseload and be involved in service development within the designated area of diabetes. To document prescriptions in patients medical notes during hospital stay and hospital diabetes database.
