Hays are delighted to be recruiting for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Purchasing Specialist on behalf of our established client within their logistics & supply chain team. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components, and services essential to their production operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong supplier relationship management experience and a deep understanding of supply chain processes.
Your new role
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans to support production and logistics objectives
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes: supplier selection, contract negotiation, and purchase order management
- Collaborate with production planning, inventory control, and logistics teams to ensure material availability and minimise disruptions
- Monitor supplier performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, delivery, and cost
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including alternative sourcing and contingency planning
- Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Analyse market trends and pricing to inform purchasing decisions and cost-saving opportunities
- Support ERP system updates and data integrity related to purchasing activities
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, procurement best practices, and contract management
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
