St. Joseph’s Care Home – 30 Hours Per Week
P1868 – Working pattern – As per rota working every other weekend, one week out of 4 is an admin week including day and night hours for audits/supervisions. There will also be some expectation of the night team leader to come in and complete spot checks through the night.
Salary £15.26 per hour

Job Purpose: Provide high quality person centred individualised care and support to residents.
Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect, acknowledge their
right to privacy and encourage independence and choice.
Maintain a high degree of confidentiality inside and outside of the
workplace.
To be the main lead and support to care staff on the wing in order to
maintain high standards of care practice.
To ensure the Deputy Manager is kept informed of any issues/obstacles
in relation to the care wing to include the reporting of health and safety
concerns.
To be the responsible person in the building ensuring safety and
security of the residents, staff and building.
To work three weeks as part of care numbers on nights, working the
fourth week undertaking staff supervisions, wing audits, to include
health and safety and infection control audits.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1 Understand and work in accordance with the code of practice for social care workers and employers as outlined by the Care Quality Commission.
2 Assist residents with personal hygiene, bathing, dressing and appearance.
3 Assist residents with their nutritional intake and ensure that food preferences are understood and acknowledged and monitor individuals weight.
4 Dispense and administer medication in accordance with prescriptions and to accurately maintain all relevant documentation, to include signing MAR charts when applying prescribed topical medication to residents and audit all MAR charts at the end of each shift.
5 Promote residents independence and ensure that residents’ choices are recorded accurately and relevant action taken to implement choices where possible.
6 Communicate effectively with all colleagues, visiting health professionals, residents and relatives and encourage this in others and work in partnership with other professionals.
7 Undertake continence assessments, complete and fax to the continence team.
8 Actively promote the concept of Equality, Diversity and inclusion in all nightly activities.
9 Be aware of and comply with the home’s security procedures.
10 Updates of care plans, purchase of toiletries and be responsible for the tidiness after assisting the resident with personal care.
11 Complete any wing audits that may be required.
12 Record an outline of the residents’ night in their nightly recording to include all aspects of their physical and emotional well-being. (Night recording paperwork needs to be different to that on days as it doesn’t give a detailed recording for the night shift.
13 Assist residents with their mobility having due regard for their individual needs, this will include pushing wheelchairs and operating aids such as specialist baths and/or hoists.
14 Providing appropriate support to residents whilst in the community, to include assistance with mobility and pushing wheelchairs.
15 Actively participate in supervision.
16 Report accidents/incidents and any health and safety issues or concerns regarding residents well-being to the Deputy Manager or Manager and complete relevant paperwork.
