Our client is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Print and Post Technician to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the efficient and accurate handling of both internal and external documentation, supporting the smooth flow of information within our organisation.
You will be responsible for preparing and dispatching printed materials and outbound mail in accordance with established processes. Under the direction of the Print and Post Manager, you will also carry out a wide range of tasks related to print and copying production, covering both promotional and non-promotional materials.

The Role:
The primary responsibility of the Print and Post Technician is to ensure efficient, accurate distribution of incoming and internal documentation, as well as the preparation and dispatch of outbound documentation, including printed and mailed materials. The role involves the operation of print and copying production equipment under the direction of the Print and Post Manager, covering both promotional and non-promotional print media.
While the role requires a basic level of relevant technical knowledge, it also demands initiative, a strong customer service approach, and the ability to act as the first point of contact for service delivery issues — escalating matters to senior management when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate all print production, reprographics, and copier equipment within the unit.

Liaise with clients to understand work requirements and advise on available options.

Maintain working knowledge of related software, including Adobe and Planet Press.

Perform print finishing, hand/bench work, and deliver completed work to local offices.

Ensure all print work meets agreed quality standards.

Handle specialised and sensitive print tasks, including council agenda papers, invoices, court bundles, posters, booklets, leaflets, and flyers.

Operate print room finishing equipment (e.g., hole-punch, binder, guillotine, laminator) and manage courier bookings as needed.

Assist the Print and Post Manager with:

Monthly print/postal recharges

Stock levels and purchase orders

Quotations and service data

Ordering stationery and materials

Sort, distribute, collect, and dispatch print and post materials in line with set processes, rotas, SLAs, and GDPR compliance.

Use mailing and related equipment to process incoming/outgoing mail in line with procedures.

Perform general office admin (e.g., filing, database updates, compliance with document retention and financial regulations).

Manage day-to-day operations of print/mailing equipment to ensure efficient processing.

Use IT systems (e.g., directories, email, label printers, web apps) for workflow and customer service management.

Support training of new and temporary staff in print and postal procedures and equipment usage.

Deliver excellent customer service and handle enquiries professionally.

Perform other duties as reasonably required by the Print and Post Manager.

Process and validate sensitive documents, including passports, identity, and financial records.

Quality-check mailing requests to ensure print, finishing, and dispatch meet targets and standards.

Identify and appropriately manage suspect packages, ensuring health and safety and COSHH compliance.

Essential Skills & Qualities:

Basic technical knowledge of print/post processes and related software

Ability to work independently and use initiative

Strong organisational and communication skills

A proactive, customer-first approach to service delivery

High level of attention to detail and accuracy

Understanding of data protection and confidentiality (GDPR)
