Severn Primary School is a happy, vibrant, culturally diverse inner-city school with a two-form entry, large nursery and wrap around care provision. It is situated in the Canton area of Cardiff about a mile from the centre of the city.
This role will be based in mainstream classes and will involve:
-supporting pupils in class under the supervision and direction of the class teacher
-working with ALN pupils on specific targets in their IDP
-providing general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom, including preparation, and routine maintenance of resources/equipment.

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
These posts are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.

This salary is subject to the Living Wage supplement which brings pay rates up to £12 per hour (scp 2 - 4). This supplement will be reviewed in January 2024 and thereafter annually in April. Cardiff Council reserves the right to make any changes to, or removal of, the Living Wage supplement.
