This role in the National Portfolio Management Office will support allocating funding of a programme within our wider investment portfolio to ensure money is well allocated to achieve flood outcomes. This will include working with people within the team and beyond, seeking technical input and working with local teams to manage allocations. The role will also help ensure these programmes are well managed and support activity to improve outcomes particularly developing new ways of working ready for a new investment programme starting in April 2026.

The role will involve:
• Support analysis of the FCRM programme information to aid future allocation decisions
• Present this information and the risks and issues to senior managers and boards
• Be a technical lead for allocation and funding
• Be a technical lead for Portfolio Management
• Answer technical queries both through incident and day job queries
• Support and manage the FCRM Refresh process

The role sits in the FCRM directorate in the Portfolio Management Assurance and Commercial department in the Portfolio Management Office.

The team

Our team allocates funding to FCRM's investment programmes and manages performance at the portfolio level to meet corporate goals such as better protecting communities from flooding. The work of the team is fast paced and we work with a range of stakeholders within the EA and Defra. We are a community focused team and rely on collaborative working. We are passionate about development, wellbeing and inclusion.

Experience/skills required

Through experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate some or all of the following:
Methodical working and attention to detail - Ability to prioritise and manage own workload - Able to remain calm under pressure and use own initiative - Data management and problem-solving skills - Experience of using data sets, spreadsheets and analysis tools - Ability to produce meaningful graphics and presentations - FCRM or programming experience, Management of Portfolios preferable but not essential.
