The Role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our Minor Works Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out carpentry work across a variety of projects and locations, ensuring high standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities
• Interpret and work from technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Install structures and fixtures such as windows, doors, framing, flooring, staircases, and partitions.
• Measure, cut, and shape wood, and other materials.
• Build, assemble, and dismantle temporary frameworks such as shuttering or formwork.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance work as needed.
• Work alongside other tradespeople on-site to complete project tasks.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
• Travel between various sites as required, with flexibility to adapt to changing project demands.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
• Promote a positive health and safety culture across the site.
• Enforce compliance with company H&S policies and UK legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations 2015).
• Report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to the Site Manager.
• Ensure PPE requirements, method statements and risk assessments are maintained at all times.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
• NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with both first and second fix carpentry.
• Demonstrable experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
• Strong working knowledge of construction methods and trades.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and construction specifications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
• PASMA/IPAF certification is an advantage.
• NVQ Level 3/Apprenticeship or above in a relevant construction trade.
• Experience working on residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
• SSSTS certification (or willingness to obtain).
• First Aid at Work qualification.
