Summary

Biology and Health & Social Care

ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a dynamic and versatile educator to teach Biology and contribute to Health and Social Care study programmes at the post-16 level. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in biological sciences and a good understanding of health and social care principles, with the ability to deliver engaging, interdisciplinary lessons that support student success across both subject areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in Biology and Health & Social Care, aligned with the relevant curriculum (e.g., LV3 NCFE and T level in HSC ).
  • Develop and adapt teaching materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Integrate biological concepts with real-world applications in health, wellbeing, and social care contexts.
  • Prepare students for internal and external assessments, including coursework and exams.
  • Support students in developing critical thinking, research, and practical skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular learning opportunities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and support.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching at the post-16 level (e.g., A-Level, BTEC, HSC).
  • Knowledge of Health and Social Care curriculum frameworks and assessment methods.

Desirable Skills:

  • Ability to connect biological theory to health and social care practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with blended or digital learning platforms.
