Exciting News!

Graeme High School, Larbert High, Braes High & Bo’ness Academy

We’re proud to be bringing four of our local secondary schools back into public ownership this August – a positive milestone for our communities and for our Facilities team at Falkirk Council. This transition marks a new chapter and an exciting opportunity to join us as we invest in high-quality, locally delivered services that support pupils, staff and families every day. Be part of something meaningful and help shape the future of these much-loved schools.

Join Our Facilities Team – Janitor

Are you dependable, hands-on and committed to keeping schools running smoothly and safely? We’re looking for dedicated Janitors to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting schools across the Falkirk Council area.

Janitors play a crucial role in school life – ensuring that buildings and grounds are clean, secure and well-maintained, helping create a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. You’ll also support school activities, monitor contractors, and contribute to health and safety compliance, allowing Headteachers to focus on education.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure the safety, security and upkeep of buildings and external areas
  • Carry out minor maintenance and report defects or hazards
  • Support the management of heating systems and building alarms
  • Monitor and support on-site contractors
  • Help manage janitorial supplies and deliveries
  • Contribute to safe access during severe weather and support pupil supervision when needed
  • Occasionally provide janitorial cover at other schools within the cluster

What We’re Looking For:

  • Relevant experience in facilities management, site supervision or building maintenance
  • A working knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, and building systems
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage tasks independently
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with children and young people is desirable
  • A full driving licence is helpful but not essential

The Role:

  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Contract: 52 weeks per year, permanent
  • Location of vacancies: Braes High School x1, Bo’ness Academy x1

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a valued, well-supported team
  • Help create safe and welcoming spaces for learning
  • Access ongoing training and development opportunities

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.

If you take pride in your work and want to contribute to a service that matters every day, we encourage you to apply.
