Join Our Facilities Team – Janitor
Are you dependable, hands-on and committed to keeping schools running smoothly and safely? We’re looking for dedicated Janitors to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting schools across the Falkirk Council area.
Janitors play a crucial role in school life – ensuring that buildings and grounds are clean, secure and well-maintained, helping create a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. You’ll also support school activities, monitor contractors, and contribute to health and safety compliance, allowing Headteachers to focus on education.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure the safety, security and upkeep of buildings and external areas
- Carry out minor maintenance and report defects or hazards
- Support the management of heating systems and building alarms
- Monitor and support on-site contractors
- Help manage janitorial supplies and deliveries
- Contribute to safe access during severe weather and support pupil supervision when needed
- Occasionally provide janitorial cover at other schools within the cluster
What We’re Looking For:
- Relevant experience in facilities management, site supervision or building maintenance
- A working knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, and building systems
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage tasks independently
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with children and young people is desirable
- A full driving licence is helpful but not essential
The Role:
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Contract: 52 weeks per year, permanent
- Location of vacancies: Braes High School x1, Bo’ness Academy x1
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a valued, well-supported team
- Help create safe and welcoming spaces for learning
- Access ongoing training and development opportunities
