Job description
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Nursery Manager to join our fantastic team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and experience working with children and leading in an Early Years environment. This role requires excellent leadership skills to manage staff effectively, ensure a safe and nurturing environment, and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
This is a brilliant opportunity to step into a well-established nursery with a strong leadership team and supportive structure already in place. You’ll benefit from a comprehensive handover period with our current Manager and will be supported throughout by the Head Office’s Early Years Operations Director and Managing Director of the South.
Our nursery and Forest School is situated in the beautiful village of Nutfield, set in 7 acres of land. We have ample on site parking as well as being serviced by a local bus route from neighbouring town Redhill which operates a direct train service from London and elsewhere in the south east.

The indoor Nursery site is set in a beautiful Victorian building, and our open-plan set up supports the family feeling of our workplace. We take children from birth up to 5 years old, and have 3 age-groups, with their own dedicated indoor rooms and outdoor gardens. Staff have the opportunity to work with our different age groups throughout their work life here, should they want to.
About the Role:
As Nursery Manager, you will:
Lead, inspire, and support a dedicated team of early years professionals
Ensure the highest standards of care, learning, and safeguarding are maintained
Build strong relationships with families, children, and staff
Oversee day-to-day operations with professionalism and warmth
Work closely with the wider Toots Day Nursery Group to ensure continuity and quality during the maternity period
About You:
We’re looking for someone who is:
Qualified to at least Level 3 or above in Early Years Childcare
Experienced in a management or senior leadership role within an early years setting
An enthusiastic and nurturing leader who values team collaboration
Knowledgeable about EYFS, safeguarding, and nursery compliance standards
Confident in building strong relationships with children, staff, and families
Reliable, enthusiastic and flexible
Honest and trustworthy
A reflective practitioner
Committed to equal opportunities

Minimum Level 3 Childcare (essential)
Level 3
Paediatric first aid (essential)
Level 6 Childcare and/or EYPS/EYTS/QTS (desirable)
Forest School Leader (desirable)
Experience:
Minimum 2-years experience leading a team in an Early Years environment (essential)
Experience in a Senior Management position in an Early Years setting (desirable)
Knowledge:
Excellent knowledge of child development (essential)
Knowledge about the early years’ framework (essential)
Safeguarding procedures (essential)
