Crynodeb

Increasing private investment, foreign and domestic, is crucial to the UK’s economic growth and the future prosperity of its citizens. Leveraging private investment is also fundamental to delivering energy transition and establishing international leadership as a science and technology driven economy.

The Office for Investment (OfI) was spun out of Downing Street in January 2021 and is now a joint unit between No.10, HMT and the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). The OfI is an exciting, creative and dynamic place to work among a motivated and driven team with both commercial and public sector backgrounds. The Office works closely with Secretaries of State, Junior Ministers, and No.10 to deliver the highest-value, highest profile investment propositions.

The team operates a flexible and flat structure which means that staff across all grades can work directly alongside the senior leadership and have direct exposure to ministers and senior business executives.

OfI's vision and mission is to secure investment to drive growth, job creation and increased productivity across the UK. We are proactive and entrepreneurial, delivering ambitious outcomes aligned to the Industrial Strategy and HMG Missions. To become a centre of excellence for attracting and growing investment we want to attract talented people from the private sector and across government who are curious, creative and agile in pursuing emerging opportunities for the UK.

Within OfI, a new Investment Marketing, Propositions & Digital division has been created to develop a more comprehensive investment proposition, marketing, and digital offer as well as service to the investment network (internal) and investors (external).

In this division, the Digital team is responsible for coordinating and delivering a bespoke cross government ‘digital first’ investment service which continues to drive the Expand Your Business digital service and also promotes the UK as a destination for investment and serves high value investors and corporate clients looking to expand their business or investment their capital into the UK. Harnessing the power of data, technology and automation we will enhance operational efficiency, improve our product offering and develop better client insight. Working with colleagues across DBT and cross Whitehall we are upgrading the OfI landing page and opportunities pages. The new public facing landing page will act as a key marketing tool to get investors engaged in what the UK has to offer and will promote the UK as the top investment destination, as well as act as a triage route to the Office for Investment concierge service. As part of the transition to OfI we are also working to deliver a customisable CRM/ tool which supports OfI’s new strategy of focusing on securing additional investment by shifting from account management to project management, can be tailored to specific requirements and is intuitive. Across both the internal and external products, the digital team is exploring ambitious AI and automation opportunities to help drive efficiencies and enhance the OfI’s offer.

The Digital Products Lead - Internal (G7) role sits within this team, reporting to Head of Digital (G6). The Digital Products Lead will work collaboratively with others (in particular DDaT and Investment, Marketing and Propositions colleagues), acting as a central conduit for the delivery and promotion of internal OfI digital products, ensuring that the digital and technological products are developed and delivered in accordance with effective digital and marketing campaigns to drive productivity and serve investors.

Key accountabilities will include:

Establish an approach and collaborate with other relevant teams to promote and deliver internal digital products including but not limited to:

  • Working with relevant colleagues to build awareness of digital products and the relevant roadmaps and ensure that the internal digital products remain up to date and current and are promoted regularly through the relevant channels.
  • Working with colleagues to share data and insights to help continuously improve the promotion of OfI digital and data, including AI and automation, to help make the UK a better place to invest.
  • Work with the rest of the team to ensure that all internal OfI digital and data products are delivered and promoted in accordance with the OfI vision.
  • Establish an approach to promote and enhance the use of a project management tool/CRM which will support the promotion of project pipelines across OfI and wider XWH. Support behaviour change measures which are put in place as part of this.
  • Building strong relationships across the OfI and broader DBT network to support promotion and delivery of digital and data products to the investment network and markets.
