Crynodeb

Female Full Time PA/Support Worker – 37.5 hours per week. Possible Job-Sharing Option Available.
Monday to Friday, plus an additional 1 x 9 hour weekend shift per month to be agreed, and the occasional sleep-in duty. (Female Only GOQ applies).
Hours: Monday: 8.00am - 4.30pm
Tuesday: 4.00pm - 10.00pm
Wednesday: 4.00pm – 10.00pm
Thursday: 4.00pm – 10.00pm
Friday: 8.00am – 7.00pm
Saturday or Sunday: 9.00am – 6.00pm
Occasional overnight shifts Friday or Saturday: 9am – 9am (24 hours)
Sleep-in hours: 10.00pm – 8.00am

Support Package details
• You will be joining an established team.
• Working within a team but on a 1:1 basis.
• Predominantly Monday to Friday but you would be expected to cover the occasional sleep in duty, weekend support and also going away on holidays.

• Female
• Age 30 years
• Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, learning difficulties.
• Sporty and has represented Yorkshire & Humberside at the Special Olympics.
• Quiet until knows a person.
• Great sense of humour.
• Can be sensitive to over stimulation and enjoys quiet time to offset busy lifestyle.

What to expect
• All meals provided.
• No uniform required.
• Domestic duties to be carried out in rooms occupied by client only.
• Assisting the client with showering and getting dressed where needed.
• Promoting her independence where possible.
• Supporting with food shopping.
• Supporting with meal preparation.
• Supporting with planning and carrying out of all tasks and activities.

Car use
• Must be comfortable and confident to drive client’s vehicle, which is a large automatic MPV.
• Must be able to make own way to/from work.
• Use of your own vehicle for flexibility is preferable.
• Will be required to drive short distances on a day-to-day basis.
• Must be confident in driving long distances within the UK.

Job Description/Specifications
• To work with our client, a young woman who has a brain injury, within her family home and in the community.
• To enable her to participate in therapy programmes, recreational and leisure activities, both at home and in the community.
• To work alongside her with household tasks such as shopping and cooking as set out by the team leader.
• To carry out light domestic duties in the home, such as vacuuming, washing, and ironing.
• To act as a driver, using the client’s vehicle.
• To provide set daytime and evening support within a structured package.
• Flexibility is required for the occasional overnight support plus 1 x 9 hour weekend shift per month.
• Flexibility to offer occasional cover for staff holidays and sickness.
• To provide daily ongoing support/prompts to assist the client to undertake personal care and domestic and leisure activities.
• To follow an agreed approach by use of strategies documented in the support plan.
• Working in collaboration with the client’s family, team leader and any other professionals when required.
• To undertake all required training.
• To attend regular supervisions.
• To ensure client confidentiality in all matters relating to the client.
• To be responsible to the client via client’s mum and team leader.
• To accompany the client on weekends away and holidays in the UK and abroad when required.
• Any other appropriate and reasonable task in relation to the employment as agreed with the client, client’s mum, team leader and case manager.

Applicant Personal Specifications
Essential Qualifications/Experience
• You must have a full UK driving licence for manual and automatic vehicles.
• You must be prepared to have business class insurance on your own vehicle if you have the use of one for work.
• You must be able to read information contained in reports and documentation.
• You must be able to present information clearly and accurately when communicating with the team via emails and shift reports.
• You must have the ability to work on your own unsupervised, or as part of a team.
• You must be prepared to provide personal care.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience
• To have knowledge of, or a level of understanding around Brain Injury/Cerebral Palsy.
• To have experience of working in a community setting and people’s own homes.
• To hold a qualification in care such as the Care Certificate.

Desirable Skills and Aptitudes
• You should have a non – judgemental approach with the ability to see things from other peoples’ perspectives and be respectful of their lifestyle choices.
• To display an understanding that the workplace is also the client’s family home.
• Have a calm communication style with the client.
• Use of clear pronunciation when speaking.
• An understanding of the ‘enabling approach’ and the ability to assess when direction needs to be offered to the client.
• A sense of humour.
• Understanding of appropriate boundaries.
• Mature, confident, and professional approach to providing support.
• Be able to display empathy but with a non-patronising approach.
• The ability to accept guidance and feedback from the team leader and family.
• Have a willingness to step in and support the client and family when the situation demands it.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all people involved.
• To be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.
• Be conscientiousness.
• Good timekeeping.
• Ability to identify and manage potential risks, to safeguard the client.
