About Us
Brynbuild is a well-established and growing construction company, delivering high-quality building services across North Wales and the Northwest of England. We have built a strong reputation for reliability, craftsmanship, and exceptional client service across a range of residential, commercial, and bespoke projects. At Brynbuild, we are committed to professionalism, teamwork, and excellence in every aspect of our work.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. This is a key role with responsibility for managing the financial and contractual aspects of our construction projects from inception through to final account. The ideal candidate will be commercially astute, proactive, and confident working across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
· Take full commercial responsibility for assigned construction projects from tender handover to final account.
· Work with the Commercial and Senior Management Team to implement and maintain effective commercial and quality systems.
· Support internal audits and ensure compliance with commercial and financial processes.
· Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow to support healthy financial outcomes.
· Provide accurate and timely commercial reports and advice to the management team, ensuring contracts meet commercial targets.
· Identify and manage commercial risks across projects.
· Procure and appoint subcontractors based on capability, value, and project-specific requirements.
· Manage subcontractor performance, including payments and variation claims.
· Lead contract negotiations to optimise project margins.
· Offer strategic commercial direction to site teams and report regularly to senior leadership.
· Assist, where necessary, with the procurement of materials for direct works.
Requirements
· HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
· Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in a similar contracting role.
· Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT, NEC), including design and build.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and cost management software.
· Confident in taking off quantities with a solid understanding of standard forms of measurement (e.g., SMM7, NRM, CESMM).
· Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work both independently and collaboratively.
· Full UK driving licence.
Personal Qualities
We are looking for a punctual, self-motivated individual with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. Clear and professional communication—both face-to-face and via digital means—is essential. A proactive attitude, commercial awareness, and a commitment to delivering quality work will be key to your success in this role.
What We Offer
· Competitive salary and company vehicle or allowance.
· Opportunities for career development and professional growth.
· Supportive, collaborative team environment.
· Involvement in diverse and exciting projects across a range of sectors.
