Interview date: 14 July 2025Hours: 25 hours per week, term time only & 25 INSET hoursWe are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and highly organised family support worker to join our dedicated pastoral team at Bournville Primary School. This is a pivotal role focused on supporting pupils and their families to overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.
We are looking for someone who has:experience working with children and families in an educational or social care settingexperience working in partnership with parents, children, and external agencies
strong understanding of safeguarding, child development, and emotional wellbeing
excellent communication and interpersonal skills
ability to work independently and as part of a team
commitment to promoting inclusive practices and improving outcomes for all pupils.You will:collaborate with staff to identify pupils needing pastoral support and assess their personal, social, and emotional needs
establish and manage referral procedures for pastoral support, prioritising cases as neededcontribute to pastoral support plans in consultation with the SENDCO and senior leaderssupport pupils and families through transitions, including secondary school, ensuring continuity of care
work with the school’s attendance team, maintaining accurate records and promoting regular attendance
provide targeted support to pupils and families experiencing complex challenges such as bereavement, illness, domestic abuse, or substance misuse
deliver one-to-one and group interventions focused on emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and social development
develop and implement individual plans to improve behaviour, self-esteem, and educational outcomes
communicate effectively with multi-agency partners, maintaining professional and secure records
attend relevant meetings and contribute to reviews and case conferences
promote the school’s ethos and policies, acting as a key point of contact for pupils and families
share best practices and participate in training and development sessions.
