ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring Relief Bank - Support and Recovery Workers to support our services across Bedfordshire. Our services support people with various levels of need including floating support in the community and more specialised residential settings. If you are looking for a rewarding role with room to grow, learn and progress in social care this is an ideal role for you. You would have the opportunity to work in potentially work in many of our Services across the region, gaining experience and supporting people from many different backgrounds in your community.

Shift Pattern: Various shifts across the various services some for which are business hours and some which are 7 days per week and 24 hours.

About Our Services In Bedfordshire

Our Bedfordshire Services are some of the most innovative and progressive within Penrose Options and the Social Interest Group. They range from Floating Housing support that people to live independently in the community, to a specialist Women's Refuge, Women and Family residential services, and homeless and rough sleeper support aimed at supporting residents into independent living.

Luton Synergy - Floating Support

All our clients have a personalised support plans and proactive support work, to engage them with the opportunities available to them to live independently in the community, develop their social skills and independent living skills. We work with clients to improve their health and wellbeing, including supporting people to manage their mental health condition and crisis prevention.

Holman House - Bedford

Our residential houses in Bedford are commissioned by Bedford Borough Council to deliver housing related support services for people with mental health problems. The aim of our service is to provide a short term service to enable clients to recover, stabilise and manage their mental health, develop or rebuild their independent living skills, engage with other key services within the locality and access suitable intermediate or long term housing.

Our properties offer a safe, peaceful and supportive living environment for individuals wanting to engage with support to increase their levels of independence. Our support programme is led by the individual and co-ordinated with support staff and external agencies.

Luton Residential Services

Bridge House Luton delivers accommodation-based housing related support to homeless families in Luton. The service has 7 units of accommodation that can comprises of:

Our service is designed to work with families to gain the valuable skills required to end the cycle of homelessness and enable future independently sustained living. Support is provided in a flexible, individualised approach so that families can progress in a way that suits both parent and child’s needs whilst in a safe and stable environment.

Biscot House Luton delivers accommodation based/housing related support to single men aged 18+. The service has 9 units of accommodation (including disabled access).

Biscot House provides a supportive base to gain the skills and confidence to secure and maintain appropriate future living in the community – this may be independent or long term supported accommodation. The assistance provided by Biscot House is led by the individual and varies from basic interventions and guidance around resettlement and gaining/sustaining independent living. Biscot House provides support for clients to end the cycle of homelessness. Staff and residents work together to create a fun, vibrant and service user focused home, in which to develop vital skills and confidence to live in the community.

Luton - Specialist Women's Service

The service will embrace a flexible approach, displaying tolerance, recognition and understanding the impact trauma can have on behaviour. The service will remain conscious of the societal tendency to unconsciously exhibit bias against women, whereby behaviours considered acceptable from males are often deemed unacceptable for females due to ingrained gender stereotypes. Sexually exploited women will not be expected to change to fit into a service model, rather the service model is designed to support women with high levels of trauma and a complex array of support needs and behaviours.

The service will provide tailored support on an individual basis, adopting an intensive, strengths based, person-centered approach in collaboration with multiple services and partners as required. The service will work with each client on a co-produced, comprehensive support plan where the priorities are set by the client.
