To contribute to the training of O&G trainees, other doctors in training and other staff groups. 2.2Actasa clinicalsupervisorandappraiserasdelegatedbytheClinicalDirector/ServiceLeadtoensure external accreditation of training post 2.3Wherepossibletocollaboratewithacademicand clinicalcolleaguestoenhancetheTrusts translational research/audit portfolio, at all times meeting the full requirements of Research Governance. 2.4Ensurethatyourmandatorytrainingisuptodate asperTrustpolicy. 2.5The Trust expects all consultants to participate fully in continuing professional development to ensure that skills and knowledge are updated in line with relevant medical developments. Consultants may apply to the study leave budget for help with associated expenses in line with the terms and conditions of their contract.Inadditionconsultants willbeexpectedtoundertakesomenon-clinicaltraininganddevelopment at the discretion of the trust management, for example, Leadership Training. 3.0PerformanceManagement 3.1Toworkwithmedical,nursingandmanagerialcolleaguestoensurehighperformanceinthefollowingareas: 3.2Clinicalefficiencye.g.LengthofStay(LOS)reductions,admissionondayofsurgery,reducing cancelled operations and DNA rates. 3.3Qualityofoutcomese.g.infectioncontroltargets,reducingre-admissionrates 3.4Financial management e.g. identification, implementation and achievement of cost improvement programmes and participating in efforts to ensure services are provided cost effectively e.g. managing locumagencyspend,monitoringandmanagingthedrugbudgettotarget,ensuringaccuracy ofclinicaldata for the team. 3.5Operationalefficiencye.g.day-caserates,waitinglistactivityanddemandmanagement. 4.0MedicalStaffManagementandAccountability 4.1WorkwithcolleaguestoensureJuniordoctorshoursarecompliantinlinewithEWTDandNewDeal. 4.2Ensure that Trust systems and procedures are in place and followed to control and monitor leave for juniormedicalstaffandtoensure that thereisappropriatecoverwithintheclinicalareas,includingon-callcommitments. 4.3Adhere to Trust / department guidelines on leave, including requesting and reporting absence, and professionalandstudyleave,andtoensure thatmembersofstafffor whomyouareresponsibledothesame. 4.4Participateintherecruitmentand inductionof juniormedicalstaffasdelegatedbytheClinical Director/Service Lead. 4.5Participateinteamobjectivesettingaspartofthe annualjobplanningcycle. 4.6Beresponsibleforongoingassessmentandregularappraisal ofall doctorsintraining,Trust doctorsand non-consultant grades as delegated by the Clinical Director/Service Lead /General Manager. 4.7Participatefullyinregulardepartmentalactivitiesincludingdepartmentmeetingsandteambuildingactivities. 5.0Governance 5.1Adherencetoreferralpathways. 5.2Reviewclinicaloutcomes indesignatedareausingexternalbenchmarkingdatawhereappropriate,to identify and advise variances to the Clinical Director/Service Lead. 5.3Participateinclinicalaudit,incidentreportingand analysisandtoensureresultingactionsareimplemented. 5.4WorkcloselywiththeDirectorateinrelationtoclinicalandservicesdevelopmentsasdelegatedbythe Clinical Director/Service Lead. 5.5ParticipateinensuringNICE,NSF,CNSTandother nationalguidancerequirementsarereviewedand implemented and monitored in the speciality areas. 5.6Ensureclinicalguidelinesandprotocolsareadheredtobyjuniormedicalstaffandanyotherstafffor whom the post has responsibility and that these are updated on a regular basis. 5.7Keepfullyinformedaboutbestpracticein thespecialityareasandensureimplicationsforpractice changes are discussed with the Clinical Director/ Service Lead. 5.8Torolemodelgoodpracticeforinfection controltoallmembersofthemultidisciplinaryteamand adhere to the Trust Infection Control measures (available on the Trust Intranet). 5.9Toreportallclinicalandnon-clinicalaccidentsorincidentspromptly,and to co-operateaccordingly with any investigations undertaken. 6.0StrategyandBusinessPlanning 6.1Workwithmedicalmanagersandgeneralmanagerstotakeforwardthebusinessplanningand objective setting process for the directorate and Trust where appropriate. 6.2RepresenttheTrustatappropriateclinicalnetworks/otherexternalclinicalmeetings,asdelegatedby the Clinical Director/Service Lead. 6.3ToattendandcontributeatregularDepartmental meetingsasidentifiedbytheClinicalLead. 7.0LeadershipandTeamWorking 7.1Demonstrateappropriateleadershipskillswithregardtoindividualperformance,clinicalteams,the Trust and when participating in national initiatives. 7.2Participateinanynecessarymanagementandleadershipdevelopmentcoursesasrequiredbythetrust. 7.3Workcollaborativelywithallmembersofthemulti-disciplinaryteamandImperialCollegeasrequired. 7.4Setupandchairmeetingsrelevantforclinicaldomain. 7.5Topromotelocalresolutionofany conflictor differencesofopinion.Toinvolveappropriateparties for mediation, negotiation or discussion as appropriate. 7.6Providecommitmentandleadershipinrelationto equalityandappropriateseniorlevelmanagementof diversity issues, particularly as they apply to training, people management and service delivery. 8.0Appraisal&Revalidation The post holder is required to participate in the annual appraisal system in line with the Trusts appraisal and revalidation guidelines. Individual appraisal interviews will be held annually and reports, (including updated job plans) submitted to the Medical Director or HR Director. You are expected to inform yourself oftheannualtimetableforappraisalandensurethatappropriatetimeissetasidetoupdateyour portfolio and your mandatory requirements.
