About The Role
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in Bexley, ensuring our children and young people can achieve their full potential? We have an exciting opportunity for SEND Case Officers to support the Special Educational Needs Team in fulfilling its role in carrying out our statutory duties, such as undertaking Education Health and Care Needs Assessments, monitor the delivery of children’s & young people’s EHC Plans and ensure our young people are appropriately placed and have access to suitable education.

The team is growing to meet demands and to ensure families receive a great service, maybe you are just the person to support with this! We are looking for passionate and knowledgeable colleagues who are able to support families and carers of young people with SEN as well as supporting education settings from nursery to post 16/19 providers, with meeting the needs of learners with Education, Health and Care Plans.

You will be required to administrate the Statutory Assessment and Review process and liaise with schools, professionals and families to support and discuss the best way forward in meeting the needs of children and young people 0-25, with SEND, so they can thrive. You will be integral to co-ordinating the statutory assessment, production, issue and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP). You will need to be a qualified teacher or hold an equivalent relevant qualification at degree or similar levels and have experience of working in or with schools/education settings in a professional capacity. Experience or knowledge of working directly within the area of Special Educational Needs (e.g. in a school, LA or other education, health or care service) and being well versed in Statutory legislation is essential for this post.

We are looking for colleagues with great people skills and communication skills who can support our children and young people with SEND who require statutory support, as well as their families, education providers, LA colleagues, and our busy SEN team. If you are a dynamic, diligent, compassionate and organised team player and want to make a difference to children and young people with significant SEND who may require statutory support to achieve their full potential, then you are the right candidate for us. Please note that this role does not involve direct one to one work with children and young people and is not based in a school setting. The post holder is a representative of the Local Authority, within Children’s Education Services for the Statutory Assessment Service.

Please note the interview assessment process will include a practical and report analysis test as well as an interview. Candidates should allow 2 hours for attendance, during working hours, on the dates given. Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service and suitable references.

Applications received from previous candidates who were unsuccessful following a full interview for this post in the last 12 months, will not be reviewed.
