Learning Support Assistant - September Start
Are you looking for a fulfilling role where you can make a genuine difference to young people's lives? We are recruiting a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming SEN school near Borehamwood this September.
You'll be supporting students aged 4-18 with a range of additional needs including autism, PDA, ADHD, OCD and associated complex learning or behavioural difficulties.
Location: Near Borehamwood, Hertfordshire
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only| Temp to Perm
Start Date: September 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00-16:00 (term-time only)
Pay: £84.05 - £90 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support in and out of the classroom
- Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and daily routines
- Follow behaviour support plans and use de-escalation strategies
- Support learning activities and adapt resources to suit individual needs
- Help pupils build confidence and independence in a structured, nurturing setting
- Provide personal care support where required
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and wellbeing
What We're Looking For
- A caring, patient, and adaptable approach
- Some experience supporting children or young people with SEND (personal or professional)
- A good understanding of autism, child development and safeguarding practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent)
- Ability to reliably travel to the rural location
