Job title: Self-Employed Personal Assistant (PA)
Reporting to: The Employer
Location: Kidderminster DY10
Job purpose:
To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable the person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer:
Our client is a 29-year-old female living in Kidderminster who is looking to recruit a Self-Employed Personal Assistant/Communicator Guide to provide support at home with daily tasks and to access the local community.
Our client is living with a brain tumour and is also registered as deaf/blind, as she has lost sight in her field of vision and is assisted in hearing using 2 hearing aids. The brain tumour & treatments have left our client with fatigue, cognitive and mobility issues.
Main duties:
Social duties:
Keep in touch and socialise with family and friends.
Support to attend local Christian Church on Sunday mornings.
Support to join exercise classes including cycling and swimming.
Attend medical appointments if required.
Support accessing art related activities across the region.
Support visiting friends for the day or occasionally overnight.
Domestic duties: Support at home to undertake light domestic tasks e.g. washing bedding and checking medication box and supplies. Support with arranging and attending routine medical appointments at the hospital. Support with meal planning, grocery shopping, preparing & cooking a meal to serve to her family.
These duties may vary from day-to-day.

Specific requirements: Empathising with & understanding of young woman’s adult living life with a disability.
Excellent communication skills, listening and speaking in the context of visual & auditory deficits.
Willingness to attend & receive additional training as required.
You’ll need to be available to work during the week & weekends as well as in the week, on a schedule to be agreed, with flexibility to be discussed.
Have up to date DBS & first aid certificates
Other: Due to the nature of this role including medical care the potential employer will be considering female applicants only.
Weekly hours & rate:
28 hours per week @ £15.00 per hour
8 hours per week @ £28.00 per hour
Skills, qualifications, and experience
Essential:
Full driving licence
Car and appropriate insurance
Excellent communication skills, listening and speaking in the context of visual & auditory deficits
Have knowledge of/be willing to learn basic sign language
Confidentiality
Good at building relationships
Preferred:
Interested in or current practice in Art & Architecture, would be a bonus
Ability to support people with complex care & support needs
Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.
This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
