Personal Care Assistant required to assist a male with Physical and Neurological Disabilities living in the Wishaw area. (Please note, supported person is a smoker.)
You would be required to provide one to one care and assistance within their home, and in the community including attending to personal care and participation in social activities. Your duties would involve assisting with tasks such as:
· Helping into shower and assistance drying, as left side weak.
· Assisting with medication.
· Preparing meals and healthy snack.
· General housework.
· Church groups, swimming and trips to Glasgow and Edinburgh for Alzheimer’s groups, meetings, assisting with participation in these physical activities.
· Household shopping and collecting prescriptions, keeping safe when handling money, crossing the road, can get confused.
· Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living.
Favourite activities are swimming, going out for coffee and lunch, an active member of Alzheimer’ group.
Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.
The most important qualities are a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Driver with Full UK Driving Licence is essential and you will be required to use your own vehicle.
Relevant care experience is desired, but not essential as training will be provided.
Recruiting for 1 person.
Guaranteed permanent position of 35 hours per week.
Monday - Friday: 10:00am to 17:00pm, may change very occasionally to 9:00am to 16:00pm.
Occasional day at the weekend, may be required – to be discussed at interview.
