About the role
To manage and take the lead on accounting, budgeting and financial control functions for St Barnabas Hospices including subsidiary and trading companies.
Essential criteria
Ensure accounts and financial processes of the charity are up to date, robust financial controls are in place, and relevant financial information is supplied in a timely manner to a variety of stakeholders.
Budgeting, planning and reporting to ensure the organisation remains financially viable and able to deliver its charitable mission.
“Go to” person amongst the charity’s management team for financial and budgetary advice.
Lead the Finance Team and directly line manage Finance Manager, Senior Finance Business Partners and Payroll Team supporting and motivating their individual performance and development.
Plan and prioritise work of the team with the Finance Manager and other direct reports ensuring targets and deadlines are met.
Ensure that Martlets is fully integrated into the parent charity in terms of financial processes, reporting and controls.
Manage the budget for the Finance department and continually monitor costs.
Act as a senior manager within the organisation and represent Finance as required.
Induct new key staff in all relevant aspects of the Finance function and provide on-going training in financial topics
Ensure that all areas of the organisation are supported by a Finance Business Partner, including acting as Business Partner yourself where necessary.
Be the point of reference for advice relating to the VAT and Gift Aid implications of any activity planned within the organisation including checking all donation literature meets the required standard and is kept up to date.
