We are recruiting a Full-time, permanent Scheme Support Officer to join our Supported housing service in Merthyr Tydfil. This service provides emergency accommodation to those who are experiencing homelessness.
What is great about this role?
Garth Villas is a 10-bed supported accommodation service for individuals who are homeless. The service gives opportunity for our customers to engage in support and gain independence in preparation to manage and sustain a future tenancy. This service is crucial within the community and in the approach to tackling homelessness.
Day to Day Duties:
As a Scheme Support Officer, you will work alongside the Project Workers providing the crucial support to our clients.
Your day will consist of:
Engaging and interacting with the people we support
Delivering workshops relating to tenancy management, health, and wellbeing
Supporting the client as directed by the Project Worker according to the support plan specifically tailored to each client
Welfare checks
Ensuring the building is secure including health & safety checks and maintaining an awareness of who is in the building
Reception duties as and when required
Dealing with challenging behaviours and responding to arising needs
Addressing any additional needs, the people we support might have
Our aim is to ensure we equip these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role and you will be faced with complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol misuse, mental health, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour and offending behaviour.
You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours so you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse cliental and manage disputes or conflicts appropriately.
What are the pay and benefits?
A competitive salary of £24,531.00
This position is permanent, Full-time 37hrs
Location: Merthyr Tydfil
Work Pattern: The service is staffed 24/7, you will be required to work 3 12hr 20 minute shifts per week which will involve days, nights and weekend.
26 days (pro rata) holiday entitlement plus Bank holidays
