We're Seeking a Civils Design CRE Who Is:

  • Network Rail Approved CRE (Civils): Demonstrable current or recent CRE status for Civils Design on Network Rail infrastructure projects is ESSENTIAL.

  • Rail Civils Expert: Extensive practical experience in the design of rail civils schemes (e.g., bridges, gantries, foundations, earthworks, drainage, platforms, retaining walls).

  • Technical Authority: Profound understanding of relevant Network Rail standards (NR/L2/CIV/003, NR/L2/CIV/010, etc.), Eurocodes, and railway specific design methodologies.

  • Problem Solver: Proven ability to resolve complex design challenges and ensure technical compliance and safety.

  • Quality & Safety Champion: Unwavering commitment to design quality, constructability, and adherence to CDM regulations.

  • Self-Driven Freelancer: Proactive, independent, and capable of managing multiple priorities and strict deadlines.

  • Exceptional Communicator: Superb stakeholder management skills, able to liaise effectively with clients, Network Rail, contractors, and internal teams.

  • Doncaster Based/Commutable: Ideally located in or easily commutable to Doncaster for project meetings and oversight.

Your Critical Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Acting as the Civil Design CRE, taking responsibility for the technical output and assurance of civil engineering designs for rail projects.

  • Reviewing, approving, and signing off on designs, calculations, and drawings to ensure compliance with all relevant standards, specifications, and legislation.

  • Providing expert technical guidance and mentorship to design teams.

  • Interfacing directly with Network Rail, clients, and internal project teams to gain design acceptance and resolve technical queries.

  • Ensuring the constructability, maintainability, and safety of all civil designs.

  • Leading design reviews and contributing to value engineering initiatives.
