The Airfield Support Manager’s roles and responsibilities fall into the following key areas-
Primary:
Airfield Support Manager - Daily estate safety inspections duties of monitoring and defect reporting for runways, taxyways, dispersals and wider airfield buildings, security gates and perimeter fence lines, windsocks and signage, alongside any other flying hazards observed. Liaising with Station Infrastructure Management and Air Traffic Management on projects and maintenance programs to ensure proper estate management and stewardship. Facilitating with permit access requirements for airfield users, including escorting of guests and contractors as required. Providing input into PowerPoint Airfield Work In Progress slides as required, maintaining key access alongside other routine administrative/record tasks. Additionally the ASM will meet and escort civilian aircraft, ensuring invoices for landing fees and fuel are presented and signed for and providing transport to/from main gate/dispersal as required. The ASM also maintains the daily use preparations and checks of fleet ATM vehicles.
RNAS Culdrose Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Warden - Critical to the welfare of our people and to mitigate structural and Air Safety incidents, this responsibility is of primary importance to ATM, particularly when there are works packages being undertaken. Consisting of pre and post foul weather estate checks. Co-Ordination of Op Cleansweep initiative post foul weather / Station events. Management of the Op Goldenbolt initiative. Maintaining effective engagement and buy in with Squadron FOD Warden’s and site managers as essential. Additionally, the ASM provides an immediate and mobile response to collecting FOD from the airfield during flying ops.

Off the airfield, as ASM you will be responsible for the important task of testing, defect reporting and monitoring and compliance in the following areas. You will work closely with on site and visiting service partners to promptly deal with security and hazard issues. As ASM, you will be the primary POC for all aspects of Fire Safety, Defect Reporting and Safety, Health and Environmental requirements for Tower buildings.
ATM Building Manager - Briefing all new joiners with PowerPoint presentation of all Tower aspects, ie Fire safety, defect reporting, Safety, Health and Environment. You will manage and hold the ATC AinU (PLR), manage and hold the departments Safety, Health and Environmental risk assessments and action the departments related furniture, stores and mail requirements as required.
ATM Fire Safety Focal Point - Act as ATM Fire Safety focal point, conducting weekly fire testing and arranging maintenance as required, managing the ATM sign in and safety logs and building briefs and coordinating Tower Personnel Fire Drills and extinguisher practice.
Additional related responsibilities maybe assigned as required.
