Summary

This is an externally funded fixed term position for 7 months duration until 31st March 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Officer to join the team at Swansea Law Clinic, Hillary Rodham Clinton (HRC) School of Law as part of an Innovate UK funded research project called Project Odyssey. Partners on the project are Tabled Technologies Ltd, Northumbria University, Keele University, Durham University and The National Archives. The main objective of the project is to develop an AI Assistant app to provide low cost/free legal advice to individuals and SMEs. Looking specifically at Social Welfare Law there will be a particular focus on devolved areas of law in Wales for example, housing and community care. Other areas will include immigration, relationship breakdown, consumer law and personal injury law.

This role requires experience of working in a legal environment and the successful candidate will have a substantive knowledge of the law. The successful candidate will join the team at Swansea Law Clinic. The Clinic is one of only three university law clinics to hold the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and has held accreditation from the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) to provide immigration advice since 2021. The primary objective of the Law Clinic is to provide high quality legal advice and assistance to individuals and SME’s. This position will make a vital contribution to meeting the HRC School of Law’s ambition to support and enhance access to justice across Wales.
