The hospital has 180 beds and 4 suites, 6 theatres, heart and lung centre, medical and surgical wards, cardiac centre, CDU, level 2 and 3 full intensive care facilities, paediatrics, diagnostic services, physiotherapy, and a dedicated day surgery unit.

We are working towards providing Angio services from 8am and 8pm, which might go beyond this time when needed due to the demand and the complexity of procedures. Therefore, there will be a requirement to work through flexible work shifts. There is also requirement for participation in an out- of-hours on-call Cath Lab service and may require weekend working.
We perform a wide range of procedures to include; ablations, coronary angiograms and angioplasties, cardiac devices insertion/removal, PFO closure, TAVI, EVAR, prostate embolization, fibroid embolization, varicocele embolization, lower limb angiogram/angioplasties, PTC, cerebral angiogram and cerebral aneurism embolization.
Role Overview:
As the Superintendent Radiographer for Angiography, you will be working under the leadership of the Head of Cardiac Services. You'll be patient centred, professional, subject matter expert, with excellent communication skills, flexible, and able to remain calm under pressure.
You'll promote best clinical practices, and have the responsibility for planning and delivery of current and future services that are responsive to the needs of patients and the organisation, within available resources underpinned by relevant specialist knowledge and skills.
Working collaboratively with the the wider clinical multi disciplinary teams across the hospital, department business co-ordinator, consultants, management and secretarial staff, you'll plan and organise daily activity through the Angiography. This requires an in-depth knowledge of bed management, capacity workflow, scheduling and regulations regarding patient waiting times and prioritisation.
You'll undertake the role of Radiation Protection Supervisor, fulfilling all duties associated with the position such as dose monitoring, risk management, maintenance of local rules and IR(ME)R regulations reporting and managing of radiation incidents to the Radiation Protection Advisor.
What you’ll do:
Organise the radiographic staffing within Angiography, ensuring all workload booked and anticipated have sufficient staffing levels.
Governance, patient safety and quality
Department cost control.
Participate in robust reporting, auditing, educating and training of new staff.
Participate in supporting clinical workload in the Angio lab for cardiology and radiology procedures.
Working with consultant radiologists, cardiologists, anaesthetics, specialists surgeons and the management of both cardiology and radiology, take a lead role in the development of the intervention cardiac and neuro radiographic service
As Superintendent Radiographer for Angiography services, continually monitor how the service is provided and initiate changes that will result in service improvement.
Manage the induction of new senior radiographers ensuring that the required equipment training is carried out and the appropriate evidence completed as required by IR(ME)R.
Coordinate a training programme covering all aspects of work within the procedures to include equipment, protocols and techniques that will assist all new staff in their induction and training.
Take a leading role in supporting more junior colleagues, offering advice and support and ensuring both are always available when required.
What you’ll bring:
BSc or DCR in Radiography - essential
Post-registration qualification (professional or managerial) at MSc/PgD level or equivalent Experience - essential
State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) - essential
Evidence of other Continuing Professional Development in Angio (Cardiology and Radiology)
Extensive post qualification experience in Angiography - essential
Evidence of leadership in Angiography - essential
Evidence of department management
ILS - Immediate Life Support Course - essential
