Job objectives and responsibilities

The main responsibilities are to be familiar with emergency procedures for actions to be taken in the event of fire, bomb threat, flood and responding to first aid incidents

Enuring that at all times we are devliering EXCELENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, being approachable, friendly, polite and attentive to all guests entering TVFTS





Main duties

The responsibilities of the Security Officer are:



Flexibility is essential due to the nature of our clients business, shift timings and days may change at short notice however where possible notice may be given but cannot be guaranteed.



Your working hours and / or days may be variable depending on the needs of the business.



Operations



· Will be greating guests “Good morning/Good afternoon Sir or Madam” standing not leaning on the equipment or the wall.

· Advise the guest of the security process for example “please empty the contents of your pockets in the tray, remove your belt, jackets and place your belongings / bags in the tray. Ask the guest to lift their hands while they walk through the metal detertor. (if a guest advises that that have a pace maker or any medical devices take the necessary steps to accomandate them as intructed by the supervisor or deputy or the TVFTS management team)

· Scanning items through Xray if you see something suspicious on the screen ensure that this is challenged but in a polite way for example, “Excuse Sir / Madam is that your bag, can we please check your bag” bag will be rescanned and then the guest is asked to empty the bag out for a through search, if there is a positive find then please exscalate to Supervisor or Deputy who will address the matter. If it is not an offensive weapon or contraband items may be kept behind for safe keeping, the guest will be issued a ticket number so that on their departure they can collect their item.

· Whilst on post will remain vigilant and present a welcoming atmosphere to staffs and visitors entering The View From The Shard

· Is to have a comprehensive working knowledge of assignment instructions complete with all current amendments and temporary additions.

· Is to be thoroughly conversant with all the site emergency proceduers.

· Will ensure that proper entry is made in the Daily Occurrence Book (DOB) when he/she is going on break and back from break. It is critical that timekeeping is adhered to.

· Is to detect and prevent any occurrences that may lead to form of crime ie: Basejumpers / climbers / urban explorers

· The reporting line of the Security Officer is direct to the Supervisor and Deputy Supervisor and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

· Can assist the TVFTS during emergency at which time; their role will be as directed by the Duty Managers / Supervisors etc..

· Is to detect and prevent situations that may lead to accident or personal injury and to ensure that any such situation is promptly reported.

· Is to present a suitable image to uphold the Clients prestige and the reputation of Mitie Security Limited by dealing professionally with people at all times.

· Respond to requests for assistance.







Fire and Emergencies



-Understand and be able to carry out the role required in emergency situations as directed by the TVFTS.

-Assist in dealing with all first aid incident within the TVFTS





Health and Safety



-Record and report to Supervisor / Deputy all faults, health and safety hazards.

-Enforce health and safety procedures.









Person Specification

Competencies:



-Previous experience of operating at Event Security Officer level

-Excellent Customer Service Skills

-Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

-Effective decision making

-Effective time management & organisational skills

-Good working knowledge of security and emergency procedures.

-Excellent Personal Hygenie

-Excellent presentation and appreance

















Health and Safety responsibilities



· Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;

· Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;

· Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;

· Promote the health and safety of staff in accordance with the H&S policy; including Livesafe and QHSE guidance detailed within in the SOP folder.

· Ensure accidents are reported promptly and investigated in accordance with company procedures

· Identification and reporting of, Health & Safety issues, or contraventions

· Recording/reporting all maintenance faults, complaints, queries to the correct department / person.

· Record and report all faults, health and safety hazards and unsafe working practices within your area of responsibility.
