JOB TITLE: Civil Enforcement Officer - Parking Services
REF: Merton 5271246
Pay rate: £18.04 per hour PAYE

A full clean driving licence qualifying the applicant to be able to drive in the UK and able to pass the Councils driving assessment.

The role:

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Civil Enforcement Officer, within Parking Services, to be responsible for enforcing permitted parking places and waiting and loading restrictions throughout the Borough both on and off-street.

Key Responsibilities:

To provide cover on day-to-day matters in the absence of the Team Leader on matters directly relating to the duties of the post holder and refer more complex issues for decision where early responses are required.
To carry out camera enforcement duties of contraventions using approved CCTV equipment.
To drive Council vehicles and be the holder of a full clean driving licence qualifying the applicant to be able to drive in the UK and able to pass the Councils driving assessment.
To train and/or assist in the training of other staff.
To issue Penalty Charge Notices as appropriate for contravention of parking, loading and waiting regulations using handheld computer terminals or hand written tickets as required. To ensure computer equipment and printers are correctly used.
To issue leaflets or warning notices to parked vehicles as required.
To maintain accurate records of enforcement action taken.
To ensure markings and signs of restrictions are of adequate standard to ensure effective enforcement, recording and reporting defects as appropriate.
To deal with members of the public politely, firmly and fairly.
To wear the approved uniform at all times on duty and to maintain a smart appearance.
To operate on a rota system as allocated by the Parking Services Manager.
To use office technology as requested.
To advise the public in relation to enquiries concerning parking matters



What the client is looking for:

Previous experience of supporting enforcement of permitted parking places
A full clean driving licence and able to drive in the UK and able to pass the Councils driving assessment.
Able and required to participate in a rota system, covering the hours of 06:45-23:00, Monday to Saturday and 1 Sunday in 8.
Understanding of and a commitment to Customer Care.
Knowledge of current Road Traffic Legislation in respect of parking
Ability to remain polite with members of the public whilst firmly enforcing waiting and loading regulations
