This is a full time role, working 37 hours per week.
Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare.
Joining the Initial Teacher Education at Weston College is at an exciting time. Applications from Secondary Schools are encouraged as well as those currently teaching in Further and Higher Education; we are seeking an excellent practitioner who can model best practice and be an inspirational role model to trainee teachers.
We currently offer Level 3 Award in Education & Training, Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training, Level 5 Diploma in Teaching and the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship. The Level 7 PGCE Teaching and Learning in Further & Higher Education programme is being developed and will be part of our ITE offer for September 2026.
The postholder will join the College's Quality Team and will work closely alongside the Programme Leader for Initial Teacher Education to plan, deliver and assess a range of programmes, depending on experience and training needs.
Learners on our programmes, many of which are Weston College staff, come from a variety of backgrounds and will have teaching specialisms in a range of subjects and industries, therefore, adaptability is vital. This will be a multi-campus role, and will require you to work across our Knightstone, Southwest Skills and Loxton campuses.
Day to day duties of the role
- Provide high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a number of programmes.
- Observe trainee teachers in their workplace and provide effective feedback.
- Mentor and tutor students, showing sensitivity to their needs and encouraging the highest possible standards so that they realise their learning goals.
- Meet targets with reference to student progress on ITE programmes (e.g. attendance, retention and achievement).
Required skills and qualifications
- A Teaching Qualification (minimum Level 5; DET, DTLLS).
Degree-level or professional qualification. - 3 years minimum of relevant and successful teaching experience.
- Experience of completing Teaching, Learning and Assessment observations.
