A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Highly Specialised Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join the Children and Young People's Gender Service, based at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, with outreach work across the South West of England.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist multi disciplinary team providing hoslitic assessment and appropriate intervention to children and young people with gender incongruence and their families. This post offers the opportunity to work across a variety of settings to provide a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service on out-patient and outreach basis including community and school visits which will involve some extended travelling. This will also include to our clinics across the UHBW estate, including outreach in North Bristol, and to Weston General Hospital amongst others.
The role involves provision of specialist advice and consultation, liaison with families, and local therapy and external agencies involved in the care of children and young people with gender incongruence and where appropriate other co occurring conditions. The post holder will promote the development of this service as a member of the multidisciplinary team and provide a source of expertise locally, nationally and internationally.
• Provide a specialised Occupational Therapy service including assessment, treatment and management of children and young people with Gender Incongruence, and co-occurring conditions. Co-occurring conditions may include some of the following: autism, ADHD, sensory integration disorder, dyspraxia, eating disorders including ARFID.
• To be a core member of the CYP Gender Service, assisting in the development, planning and progression of service provision, working across and within traditional professional and organisational boundaries in hospital, education and community settings.
• To act as a source of expertise and demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in the highly skilled management of children with Gender Incongruence and co-occurring conditions
