Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and present a wide variety of sushi, sashimi, maki rolls, and other traditional Japanese dishes such as ramen, teriyaki, tempura, and donburi
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, freshness, and food safety in all preparations
• Manage daily kitchen operations related to Japanese menu offerings
• Monitor inventory and ensure high-quality ingredients are consistently in stock
• Train and supervise junior kitchen staff on Japanese food preparation
• Create innovative and seasonal menu items in line with Japanese culinary trends
• Ensure a clean and organized work environment following food safety regulations
• Interact with customers as needed to ensure satisfaction and receive feedback on dishes
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a sushi chef or chef specializing in Japanese cuisine
• Expert knowledge of sushi-grade fish handling and traditional preparation methods
• Food hygiene and safety certifications (Level 2 or higher preferred)
• Attention to detail in food presentation and knife skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and manage multiple orders
• Strong team player with good communication skills
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
• Culinary training in Japanese cuisine or certification in sushi preparation
• Experience working in Japanese restaurants or fine-dining establishments
• Familiarity with Japanese ingredients, plating styles, and cultural etiquette
