Summary

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team to deliver an outreach programme funded by Children In Need's Big Sky Fund. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering a pilot project in supporting and mentoring young individuals aged 8-13years old, helping them to develop essential life skills and achieve their personal goals. This position requires a strong commitment to youth work, with an emphasis on education and guidance for children, including those with special educational needs.

Responsibilities

To engage the young people in a variety of settings to establish their interests, needs, barriers and ambitions and to plan and deliver activities for them in response to these findings.
To establish and run a 10 week pilot Youth Club with the aim of delivering a range of exciting activities combining learning new skills, establishing an inclusive, bonded group and improving the young people's ability to express and manage their emotions.
To work to engage the community to improve awareness of young people's needs and contributions to society and how the well-being of young people effects the community.
To manage the project budget and resources, maintain records and help evaluate the data and learning from the project.
To ensure that Raspberry Creatives equipment is properly maintained and fit for purpose, report any damages or losses to the Directors and balance play benefit with management of resources.
To work with the Directors to produce evidence of need and write a funding application for ongoing provision.
To engage the young people in a friendly, enthusiastic and motivated way, ensuring inclusion for those with additional needs, encouraging healthy friendships and a safe space for all young people.
Actively participate in training and development.
Maintain good communication with staff, volunteers, young people and families.
Be aware of, and adhere to, all Raspberry Creatives policies and procedures and to work with awareness of The Play Principles adopted by Play Wales and The Children's Right to Play.
To encourage independence and positive self-esteem and actively seek to establish an inclusive, anti-bullying, supportive environment for all.
To take the lead and respond appropriately to incidents, accidents and emergencies.
To be responsible for overseeing the keeping of records and recording data. To assist the Directors in the planning, administration and evaluation of the project.
Ensure that activities are appropriately planned and delivered, balancing risks with benefits.
To work by Raspberry Creatives Code Of Conduct at all times.
To take equipment and staff/volunteers to sites around Neath Port Talbot.
Any other reasonable task as required by the directors to plan and run the project.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Relevant Level 3 qualification in Youth Work, Play Work, Childcare or related field
Current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one prior to starting)
Experience of working directly with children or young people in a community, educational or youth work setting
Strong understanding of the needs, rights and experiences of children and young people. In particular those aged between 8-13 years old.
Proven ability to plan, deliver and evaluate engaging activities for young people.
Experience of working in partnership with other organisations, schools or community groups
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with young people, families, staff and partners.
Ability to work independently and use initiative while also working as a part of a team.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail, including maintaining accurate records and managing project resources.
Ability to reflect on practice, accept feedback, and engage in ongoing learning and professional development.
Ability and willingness to drive and travel to outreach sites (Full driving licence required)

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
Experience supervising volunteers or trainees
Experience of co-producing activities or services with young people
Understanding the Children's Rights Approach and Play Principles (as defined by Play Wales)
Experience working in rural or geographically isolated communities
Experience contributing to funding applications or project evaluations
