Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Kitchen Supervisor to join our team in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, including Jury Meals & Hospitality, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Collaborate with the manager to plan and create innovative menus
  • Enforce and maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen
  • Manage inventory, place orders, and control food costs efficiently
  • Create and adjust staff rotas to meet operational needs
  • Train and mentor kitchen team members to improve their skills and performance
  • Assist in food preparation and cooking as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise in the kitchen promptly
  • Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and quality food service
  • Conduct regular quality checks on food preparation and presentation
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for kitchen processes


Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in a professional kitchen setting
  • Previous supervisory experience in a kitchen environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Culinary degree or diploma (desirable)
  • Current Food Safety Certification
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in menu planning and recipe development
  • Solid understanding of food cost control and inventory management
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in kitchen equipment operation and basic maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge of various cuisines and cooking techniques
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as needed
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 23 kg
  • Thorough knowledge of local food safety regulations and health codes
  • Familiarity with kitchen management software
  • Detail-oriented approach to work with a focus on quality and consistency
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences
  • Goal-oriented attitude with the ability to meet and exceed performance targets
