Summary
Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Physiologist – Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2026 0.8WTE -30hrs/week
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Specialist to provide exercise prescription for cardiovascular endurance, exercise, and resistance training within a cardiac rehabilitation setting. For 30hrs /week.
The post is based at Whipps Cross hospital & Local community settings
and the post holder will work closely with our exercise physiologists based at the Barts Heart Centre and Tower Hamlets community
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual , who is flexible, confident,
and able to work independently within a multi-professional team.
The key aspects of the post include delivery and evaluation of a comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation service. Working collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team; and local partners. Patient assessment; education and training; promotion of evidence based practice and collecting and evaluating audit data and promotion of research .
Successful applicants will need to have experience delivering fitness programmes to specialist populations and have completed relevant specialist courses. You will have experience of health promotion and be patient focused, supportive and empathetic.

• Establish, co-ordinate and deliver appropriate protocols and procedures in line with the British heart Foundation Guidelines for a Phase lll and Phase lV Cardiac Rehabilitation programme
• Develop, co-ordinate and deliver group circuit type exercise sessions and individual gym programmes as per BACPR guidelines for patients, with specific consideration with reference to their past and current medical condition and personal goals
• To screen and carry out health assessments for patients referred to phase III and lV
• Ensure safe and effective delivery of exercise programmes
• Advise and motivate referred clients, on a suitable exercise programme
• To develop, co-ordinate and assess individualized home exercise programmes in conjunction with the Phase II community coordinator
• Liaise closely with Phase lll personnel and conduct exercise sessions as part of phase lll and phase IV rehabilitation
• To liaise with Community exercise organisations/ providers of the GP referral scheme
• Utilize monitoring and evaluation systems already in place. Collate data and periodically review performance to establish the effectiveness of the programme in delivering its objectives
• Prepare monthly progress reports/figures of Phase IV for the Cardiac Rehabilitation & commissioners
