The London Neonatal Transfer Service (NTS) is offering 6-12-month fellowships starting September 2025, with the option to extend by mutual agreement. The posts suit senior middle-grade or post-CCT doctors who seek focused training in neonatal transport together with leadership, quality-improvement and operational experience before consultant appointment.
Why choose London NTS?
• In 2023-24 we processed 2,340 requests and completed 1,903 transfers, including 950 emergencies, making NTS consistently the UK’s highest-volume neonatal transfer service.
• Road-based with air capability, covering emergency uplift, palliative and elective repatriation across 26 London units, with occasional PICU transfers.
• A dedicated NTS Consultant Neonatologist is always available for clinical and operational advice.
• Fellows typically lead 80-100 emergency transfers in six months, each formally debriefed and logged for reflection.
Professional development:
You will join an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team and benefit from:
• Leadership, management, research, QI and CPD opportunities.
• Regular simulation, Human Factors and clinical governance sessions.
• Access to the co-located 44-cot medico-surgical NICU, Children’s Hospital and Fetal Medicine service at the Royal London Hospital.
Working arrangements:
Fellows participate in a compliant, rolling full-shift rota with scheduled admin and professional-development time. Flexibility and collaborative rota management are actively encouraged.
