As a Court Centre Manager for CPS North West, you are responsible for the coordination of all casework and administrative activity in one of the Area’s busiest Crown Court centres.
You are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the court including the deployment or paralegal officers and paralegal assistants to court duties.
You provide leadership as SPOC contact for the Court Centre with external partners including HMCTs and external Counsel, including the implementation of major change initiatives.
You take a pivotal role within the local community and with Criminal Justice System (CJS) partners to drive through strategic change and improvements within the Unit and with key stakeholders, and to meet the needs of the Service, key stakeholders and the national framework.
Your roles and responsibilities include:
Setting, monitoring and reviewing the performance of direct reports, whilst implementing appropriate HR policies by setting appropriate targets and ensuring regular reviews with your team.
Manage the day-to-day business of the court centre ensuring the deployment of Paralegal Officers and Paralegal Assistants to court duties is in line with the national agreement and makes efficient use of resources.
To be the visible and proactive focal point of engagement with CJS partners, agencies and other stakeholders for all casework enquiries, trouble-shooting and problem-solving within the court centre.
Responsible for ensuring all cases listed for hearing are progressed and
any outstanding casework actions are completed wherever possible to avoid an adjournment.
Proactively build and maintain good working relationships with Criminal Justice partners and external agencies to ensure the smooth operation and effective delivery of CPS business;
Monitor compliance and complete assurance checks with Casework Standard Operating Practice (SOP) systems and processes at court to ensure that casework and administrative functions are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Supervise the daily updating of the Case Management System within requisite targets and ensuring all counsel activity is accurately recorded.
Deal with urgent casework enquiries from Paralegal Officers and Paralegal Assistants providing advice and guidance to facilitate timely resolution.
