Catering Manager – Bishop’s Stortford College

We are seeking a Catering Manager to lead the day-to-day core feeding operation at Bishop’s Stortford College, a prestigious independent school with nursery, pre-prep, prep, and upper school pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily dining operations, ensuring excellent service and smooth delivery across all age groups.
  • Lead, support, and develop a team of 30–40 staff, including a dotted line to the Head Chef.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Executive Chef to uphold food quality and consistency.
  • Ensure theme days, events marketing calendar are executed at a high standard.
  • Be a visible leader during key service times, actively engaging with students, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure robust allergen management and compliance with all food safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and accountability for financial procedures, stock, and labour.
  • Support the delivery of holiday lets and summer events as part of the wider operational remit.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience managing catering in a high-volume environment, ideally in education or hospitality.
  • A confident and hands-on leader with excellent communication and team development skills.
  • Strong understanding of allergen procedures, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Organised, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced setting.
