We are very pleased to offer appointment to the post of junior clinical fellow in Medicine at the Royal Free London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post is based at Barnet Hospital and offers an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to join a committed team of consultants and junior doctors in these well-developed services.

Barnet Hospital is a busy District General Hospital which is renowned for being an excellent place to work and train.
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to work in the Department of Medicine. We have opportunities to work on our Acute and Geriatric wards, and on our newly created hot floor; which works in collaboration with ED to avoid admissions by providing a rapid assessment and treatment.

The applicants can be part of the medical SHO on-call rota, which will give excellent experience in dealing with acute medical admissions. This post is an ideal opportunity to broaden experience in medicine, while deciding on a career path. The candidate will be supported with Clinical and Educational supervision as well as a range of learning opportunities through the very active Education Centre.

Please note - this post falls under the 2002 Hospital Medical and Dental staff terms and conditions. It is a trust grade role, and not a recognised training post.

Alongside the education role, the post holder will be part of the Acute Medicine team or Geriatric team (please specify which speciality you are applying for) which will include working on the ‘Hot Floor’, seeing patients in same day emergency care, on the acute admissions unit, and out-of-hours reviews of medical inpatients. This is within a friendly and supportive team with consultant supervision and providing opportunities for workplace-based assessments, learning procedures and developing clinical skills. The post holder will be welcome to attend the wide and varied programme of educational meetings, and can access teaching specific to postgraduate exams if relevant. The appointed doctor will be part of the medical on-call rota, at either SHO or Registrar level depending on qualifications and prior experience.

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s biggest and most innovative trusts. Across three main hospitals, our dedicated army of staff care for over 1.6million patients, treat more than 200,000 in A&E, deliver over 8,000 babies and carry out more than 17million tests.
