What skills and experience we're looking for

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking to appoint an outstanding Humanities teacher to join our Humanities Faculty at Breckland School, to develop and drive Humanities across the curriculum. We are a small, thriving team of subject specialists looking for a like-minded colleague to join us. We are looking for a colleague who is confident enough to try new methods and reflect on how they can improve, learn from their colleagues at a time of positive change in the Faculty, and who will put our students and their best interests at the heart of their teaching.

What the school offers its staff

This would be an ideal opportunity for an ECT to join an established and high performing team, or a more experienced staff member to bring their passion to Breckland School. Our Curriculum at KS3 is designed to challenge and inspire students, getting them to think about their position within the world through engagement with the Geography, History and Religious traditions of the UK and the wider world. We are constantly developing the student offer to include interactions with scholarship, and have a Faculty mentality of ‘high challenge, low threat,’ as promoted by Mary Myatt.

Applicants must have a knowledge of at least one aspect of the Humanities curriculum (RE, History or Geography) across Key Stages 3 and 4, as well as being committed to working collaboratively in a strong, hard-working, and forward-thinking Faculty. Breckland School is a good and improving school well regarded by the local community with whom it works closely. Staff enjoy working here and our students are well behaved and keen to learn.
