Advanced Technical Lecturer
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Are you a registered mental health professional ready to inspire the next generation of practitioners?
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of mental health education as an Advanced Technical Lecturer (ATL): Mental Health at Newcastle College. As part of our Health and Science department, you'll take a lead role in delivering and developing our Mental Health T Level - a critical growth pathway aligned with NHS priorities and local workforce needs.
Building on the success of our Adult Nursing ATL model, this role will place you at the heart of a dynamic, industry-responsive curriculum. You will work closely with employers to ensure our programmes reflect real-world practice, embedding contemporary approaches such as trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and therapeutic communication into teaching and assessment.
We're looking for an experienced mental health practitioner (e.g. RMN, HCPC, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist with a mental health specialism) with the passion and expertise to elevate technical learning across our department. This is your chance to translate your professional insight into powerful teaching that directly supports learners' progression into meaningful and sustainable careers in mental health services.
As an ATL, you'll also lead on subject pedagogy, support team development, and contribute to strategic improvements that place our learners-and their futures-at the centre of everything we do.
If you're ready to bring your clinical knowledge into an educational setting and make a lasting impact on both learners and the wider sector, we want to hear from you.
