Patient and Family Support:Providing holistic support to stroke patients and their families, including emotional support, practical advice, and guidance on self-management strategies. Group work. Ensuring the delivery of high-quality, best practice, and evidence-based care to stroke patients and their families, adhering to national stroke standards and best practices. Rehabilitation and Therapy:Facilitating and coordinating stroke rehabilitation, promoting psychological and neuropsychological functioning and recovery, and maximizing independence in the community setting and contributing to vocational rehab for those wishing to return to work. Service Development and Improvement:Contributing to the development and implementation of service improvements, participating in audits and service reviews, and responding to national initiatives related to stroke care. Inter-professional Collaboration:Working effectively with other healthcare professionals, including therapists, social workers, nurses, doctors and community services, to ensure a coordinated and integrated approach to patient care. Pathway Management:Alongside psychology management, coordinating the patient pathway for psychological care, from initial assessment to discharge, ensuring smooth transitions and optimal outcomes. Supervision, Education and Training:Providing regular supervision to doctoral trainees on placement. Providing education and training to other healthcare professionals and staff on psychological and neuropsychological aspects of stroke care and rehabilitation. Communication and Advocacy:Effectively communicating with patients, families, and other stakeholders, advocating for the needs of stroke patients and their families.
