Summary

Do you have experience with sales ledger, enjoy working collaboratively and are keen to support a busy and evolving finance function?

About us

The Science Museum Group (SMG) encompasses the Science Museum, the National Railway Museum, the Science & Industry Museum, the Science & Media Museum, Locomotion and the Science and Innovation Park. Making us the world's greatest alliance of science museums.

About the role
As a Finance Assistant, you will assist the team with processing sales and purchase invoices and expenses, whilst providing a client-focused service to non-finance colleagues and to the Group's suppliers and customers.

You will be joining a friendly and experienced team, with plans to improve the value we provide to the organisation by increasing the use of automation and technology. We support our colleagues in gaining the skills and knowledge required to thrive in a developing function.

About you
We're keen to see applications from candidates who enjoy being part of a team and are happy to pitch in where needed across the wider finance function. The ideal candidate will be organised and efficient, possessing admin skills to help manage key financial processes like invoicing, reconciliations, and cash handling across our sites.

A good head for numbers and attention to detail is important too, especially when working with expenses, ledgers, and high volumes of transactions. Good IT skills, particularly in Excel, and a willingness to learn new finance systems will go a long way, as will clear and professional communication when dealing with queries.

If you&©re someone who's adaptable, open to change, and genuinely committed to working in an inclusive, values-led environment, we'd love to hear from you!

Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
