Care Assistant – One-to-One Support for Child with Complex Medical Needs (Term-Time, School Hours)
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Paediatric Care Assistant to support a child with complex medical needs throughout the primary school day. This long-term position offers consistent weekday shifts during term time and provides a rare opportunity to work school hours while making a meaningful difference.
You will deliver one-to-one care in a classroom setting, ensuring the child is safe, comfortable and fully included in their learning environment. The role is expected to continue for up to five years, supporting the child across their primary education journey.
Key DetailsHours: 08:40 to 15:20, Monday to Friday during term time
Location: Plymouth
Role: One-to-one classroom care for a child with a tracheostomy
Duration: Long-term (up to five years)
Pay: £13.97 to £19.99 per hour
As a Care Assistant in this role, your responsibilities will include:
Providing dedicated, one-to-one care to the child throughout the school day
Managing tracheostomy care and monitoring respiratory health
Supporting with medication administration and personal care when required
Encouraging participation in lessons and daily school activities
Following a detailed care plan with full support from our Paediatric Clinical Lead Nurse
Delivering both clinical and social care with empathy and accuracy
You will receive full training and ongoing clinical guidance to help you succeed. You will also have access to 24/7 support and regular check-ins from our regional team.
What We Are Looking For
At least six months of UK care experience, either paid or from caring for a loved one
A calm and patient approach, especially in clinical settings
Reliable and professional conduct, including accurate communication and handovers
Right to work in the UK
Experience with children or in a school setting is helpful but not essential. Full paediatric training will be provided
