About the Role

We are seeking an inspiring, strategic leader to take on the new role of Post 16 Service Manager. This post will be pivotal in leading and be accountable for all matters relating to the commissioning and provision of support for children and young people aged 16 – 25 across Leicestershire, developing, embedding and integrating the preparation for adulthood agenda across education, employment, health and care. Our aim in Leicestershire is to ensure all young people in our communities have access to an inclusive and appropriate education so they can achieve positive outcomes, enabling them to lead successful adult lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with key stakeholders, including schools and post-16 providers, establishing and maintaining relationships
  • Understand what the gaps are for post 16 opportunities and develop key strategies, working with providers, to fill these gaps
  • Monitor and report on the Key Performance Indicators focussing on how many post-16 young people are not in Education, Employment or Training and track improvements over time
  • Establish multi-agency forums focussing on post-16
  • Work with colleagues and professionals to develop strategies/pathways for helping young people 16-25 with additional needs and EHCPs
  • Oversee and direct the co-ordination of monitoring processes of post-16 SEN funding to ensure that post-16 providers are held to account for meeting their responsibilities towards learners.

About You

You will be a visionary and credible leader with a strong track record in working at management level in an Education related field e.g. Local Authority, School or Post-16 provider. You will also have experience and/or knowledge of:

  • Leading a service working with vulnerable families or individuals in an education context.
  • Developing and delivering projects and influencing and managing service improvements
  • Effective delivery of service plans to meet performance targets.
  • Collaborative multi-agency partnership working and delivery change across agencies.
  • Working in an organisational environment which requires extensive engagement and consultation with senior managers where the skills of influence and persuasion are necessary tools to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Managing and understanding general financial and budget information in the context of an organisation’s financial strategy, efficiency and savings plan.
  • Connecting with communities and localities through listening, dialogue and understanding community needs
  • Leading and delivering sustainable, collective high performance through inspirational leadership, the setting of clear priorities and a strong approach to performance management.
