Rate of pay: £14.82 per hour for the appropriate qualifications/skills.
Two female (GOR) PAs required to join a team supporting a disabled lady in her late 30s who is autistic and has learning disabilities. She can be very anxious when out and about and requires support from understanding, encouraging and positive staff on a 1:1 basis. Her interests largely lie in music, dance, theatre, cinema and history. She and her team are working to improve her independent living skills. She requires support with some personal care, light domestic duties, making snacks and some meals, and with her emotional and social support.
The post is suitable for post graduate students wanting practical experience of working with people with intellectual disabilities and/or people with a background in allied healthcare, psychology and psychotherapies, or nursing. Most importantly, staff must have empathy and patience.
Paid person-specific training will be provided.
You will be part of a team of 6 to 8 people. Support hours will be mostly from 9am to 5pm but can be flexible, and can include some evening shifts. Applications from people, like students, wanting to work 15 hours per week or less welcome. Rotas are scheduled in advance across the team’s availability. Pay is monthly in arrears.
