Work Pattern
Your contracted hours each week throughout your apprenticeship will be 37 hours Monday - Friday.
Location
This role is based at Parker Meggitt’s Stevenage site. It is recommended that you live within a commutable distance of this location.
College
Travel will be required for approximately 1 week per month to Weston-Super-Mare to attend college during the first year.
Key Responsibilities
Composite Manufacturing: Support the production of aerospace components using composite materials.
Testing & Calibration: Assist with laboratory testing and machine calibration to ensure quality and accuracy.
Engineering Support: Apply general engineering skills and contribute to process improvements.
Systems & Equipment Setup: Maintain systems and assist in setting up tools and equipment for daily operations.
Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety procedures while working on-site.
Technical Administration: Take notes during meetings and help track technical actions and updates.
Workshop Operations: Use workshop machinery and tools, following clear instructions and safety guidelines.
Problem Solving: Help identify and resolve basic technical issues on the shop floor.

Apprentice salaries increase annually with experience and are reviewed each September, depending on individual performance. Apprentices are also included in Parker Meggitt's bonus scheme, receiving a minimum of 2.5%, which may increase depending on overall company performance.

Training
Alongside your day role, you will work to complete your apprenticeship with your external training provider, Weston College. This will give you the knowledge, training and external approval to do your job effectively.
The training will be delivered in a block release method and overnight stay will be required.

Qualifications
5 x GCSEs at Grade C/4 or equivalent, including Mathematics and English.
In order to apply, you must:
Not already hold a similar qualification to this programme.
Be at least 18 years old when the apprenticeship begins.
Have the right to work in the UK.
Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least the past three years prior to starting the apprenticeship.
Have completed full-time education before the apprenticeship is due to start.

Proficient in the use of a range of hand tools to create components with accuracy and precision.
Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality outputs and adherence to technical specifications.
Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues during the manufacturing process.
Understanding of health and safety procedures, including the safe handling of composite materials, resins, and curing agents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively share information with colleagues and supervisors.
Collaborative team player with the ability to contribute positively and support others in a group setting.
Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving technologies and processes in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

What does the future look like?
Upon successful completion of the programme — and subject to performance — you may have the opportunity to move into a permanent role within the team or business area where you completed your apprenticeship.
