Regular UK travel and overnight stays will be necessary for this role.
Government Skills (GS), was created in 2020 to improve the coherence and quality of learning and development in government through better training, knowledge and networks.
The aim was to accelerate the development of the skills, knowledge and networks of all civil servants, reaching across the wider public sector and delivering better public services for citizens across the country.
As we move into a new era under a new Government we have received approval to transition the externally-delivered training components toward internal delivery. This will involve building the capacity and capability of the team to enable the design and delivery of this training. This is an exciting time of growth for Government Skills.
The SCS Inductions Team delivers Induction programmes for Senior Civil Servants including Deputy Director Inductions and Director Inductions. This role has a strong project management and event delivery focus, both in-person across the UK and virtually.
A commitment to continuous improvement is essential, along with a keen attention to detail and strong organisational skills. You should be customer-focused and have a genuine passion for effective project and programme management.
Adaptability and the ability to work at pace are crucial, alongside excellent interpersonal, IT, communication, operational delivery, and stakeholder engagement skills. While subject matter expertise in learning and leadership development is beneficial, it is not required.
Role responsibilities
- Event delivery: Organise, deliver, and evaluate SCS induction events at various locations across the UK and online, ensuring excellent project management throughout the process;
- Customer focus: ensuring the Senior Civil Servants involved in our programmes have the very best experience of working with Government Skills;
- Continuous Improvement: working across our team and Government Skills to improve the quality and value of our programmes, and reviewing and refining programme management functions and processes across the team;
- Engagement: working with senior stakeholders, teams, and external suppliers to ensure the effective delivery of leadership programmes;
- Finance: creating and managing purchase orders, updating monthly finance checks.
