DWP are committed to making our workforce reflect the communities we serve and are looking to add to our existing network of Welsh speaking colleagues, by filling several Welsh speaking Executive Officer roles. The roles are available in either the Retirement Services Directorate (RSD) or the Work and Health Services Directorate (WHSD).
RSD has a vacancy for a Welsh Language Line Team Leader. This position will be based in Ty Pont Britannia, Bangor, LL57 4FD. This is a team leader, telephony and benefit processing role.
WHSD has vacancies for Bilingual Work Coaches. These positions will be based in either Pwllheli, LL53 5NF or Machynlleth, SY20 8EB. You will offer advice and support to help customers move into or closer to work.
We are looking for people who have a positive attitude, a passion for public service and who want to make a difference, helping to change people’s lives in our communities from around 20 million plus customer base.
The roles require people who have the right influencing skills. You will be someone who can make sound decisions, implement change, lead others and use their brilliant communication skills to handle sometimes complex yet rewarding conversations to resolve customer queries.
The ability to speak, understand and read Welsh fluently is essential.
Standard of Spoken Welsh – you will be able to converse clearly and understand spoken Welsh to.
- Discuss customers’ personal circumstances, work history, explore job goals, explain benefit rules, requirements and decisions.
- Understand customers’ questions and be able to respond.
Standard of Written Welsh – you will be able to write brief notes or messages to customers by email, text etc.
What you will do if you are a Welsh Language Line Team Leader
You will
- Use relevant rules and legislation to make decisions on entitlement or to review decisions which are subject to challenge by customers or their representatives.
- Focus on delivering to agreed goals and priorities to achieve collective commitments, team expectations and quality outcomes.
- Provide leadership, inspiration and direction, setting team ambitions, managing workloads and attendance, and conducting performance appraisal reviews.
- Operate as part of a team, making individual contributions whilst being flexible and adaptable.
- Focus on doing the right thing for the customer, taking ownership to deliver an excellent customer service.
- Take responsibility for your own development to improve competency and skills and support and coach others to do the same.
- Build relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues across DWP and with external organisations to improve the customer experience.
- Help implement change by supporting colleagues, embracing the change agenda.
- Support the goals of DWP.
What you will do if you are a Bilingual Work Coach
Your role will include
- Having a caseload of customers for whom you will be responsible.
- Building positive relationships with your customers that encourage and motivate them to make the most of their work and earnings potential and become financially independent.
- Offering advice and support to help your customers to look for work and where necessary support them to develop skills to be successful in their job search in a digital environment. i.e. job search websites, email, uploading documents etc.
- Undertaking face to face, digital and phone discussions with customers on a daily basis, in both Welsh or English.
- Proactively developing an in-depth knowledge of the local labour market, recognising the roles that our Partners and Employers have in helping our customers secure employment.
- Making timely decisions, based on the needs of the customer, to refer them to appropriate support.
